1.) Preparation

  1. Install all Updates on Windows 2008 R2
  2. Install SP2 for SQL 2008 or SP1 for SQL Server 2008 R2
  3. Install Analysis Service on the SQL Server 2008 R2
  4. Install of CU3 for SCSM 2010 SP1 otherwise the Update won’t work.
  5. Install Analysis Service on the Sharepoint SQL Server. (Sharepoint is a big must for the EndUser Frontend)

2.) Datawarehouse

You have to start with the Service Manager Data Warehouse Management Server. That means you have to set up there the Analysis Service. I won’t go in detail how to do that.

Now you can begin with the installation of the SCSM 2012 RC to the current Datawarehouse(s).

Now you can configure the Data Sources (SCCM 2007 R3 and 2012 RC / SCOM 2012 RC)

3.) Updating the Service Manager Management Servers

The EndUser and Analyst Portal wil be deactivated at that procedure, because of Sharepoint of course.

During the Upgrade you will see that you have to download and install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Management Objects and the SQL Server 2008 Native Client. Download it from the Microsoft Site suggested and start the Installation wizard again.
